How To Choose The Right Bridal Shoes
We’ve spent a lot of time covering stressful topics on our blog to help ease the stress on you during your wedding planning, but today we’re going to take you through something different: one of the most stressful wedding planning moments - picking your bridal shoes.
Everything you’ll need to keep in mind when it comes to choosing bridal shoes
Lock In The Gown First
Knowing what style of wedding dress you’ll be wearing on your most special day is essential when it comes to shoe choice. The reason for this is that you’ll need to have the hem made to fit with the shoes before it’s time to get married! You’ll want to see the gown you’re wearing to your wedding day so that you can make sure the shoes match and pull off the complete look you’re after, but it’s important to remember you’ll need your shoes before the gown is finished if it’s custom made, or get alterations afterward if it’s off-the-rack.
A few tips when selecting shoes while keeping your gown choice in mind:
- Make sure the shoes compliment the gown but remember it doesn’t have to be matchy-matchy. It just has to be ‘you’!
- There are no rules. Feel free to get creative with shoe color; they don’t HAVE to be white. Some brides even opt to use their shoes as ‘something blue’ on their wedding day.
Stick to Budget
The budget you’ll put towards your wedding day shoes will depend on how much each bride wants (or is willing) to spend, but sticking to budget is always essential. Once you know how much you want to spend on your shoes, it will give you a price box to work within - sometimes, when it comes to budgets, working INSIDE the box is the best way to go!
Many brides we’ve met over the years have used their wedding as the moment to buy a particular pair of designer heels that they’ve always wanted, both as wedding day attire and special occasion attire moving forward in life too.
When you’re shopping online at your favorite shoe brands, remember you can organize the search results by price or place them into parameters that fit your budget!
Factor In Comfort
When you’re trying on, looking at, or choosing wedding day shoes, be sure to factor in comfort. You will spend most of, if not all day, in your wedding shoes; comfort is paramount.
You’ll want to take the height of your footwear into account if you’re wearing heels, don’t feel pressured into wearing shoes that are too high or just uncomfortable on your feet in general. Don’t forget, you’ll not only be walking, but likely dancing in your choice of footwear on your wedding day too, so we can’t stress focusing on comfort enough!
Think About Your Venue
The footwear you choose has to be appropriate for the venue you’re getting married in. Keep your preferred style of venue in mind to make sure the shoes you pick will be safely wearable on the day! For example, high heels at a beach wedding is probably not a good choice.
