Love Notes & Quotes To Get You Through The Day

It's pretty safe to say we're all enduring some pretty stressful times in the world as of late. With so much uncertainty, worry and anxiety coming at us all each day, we wanted to take some time out to share a few quotes and words about love & marriage to give us a much needed reprieve from our daily stresses. It's easy to lose track of the important things in times like this, so hopefully some of these words will serve as a heartwarming reminder for you. (There's also some pretty great Instagram-worthy quotes in here too!)

“I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.” - J.R.R Tolkien.

J.R Tolkien is no stranger to beautiful words as the writer of books like The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit. These words are especially poignant in these turbulent times, because no matter how crazy life may get, facing it all with someone we love makes everything feel worth it.

“To be fully seen by somebody, then, and be loved anyhow-this is a human offering that can border on miraculous.” - Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert is a writer who gained huge attention for her memoir 'Eat, Pray, Love' that was eventually adapted into a movie we've probably all seen or at least heard of. This quote of hers is beautiful - the idea that our partners can see not only our perfections, but more importantly our flaws, and love us deeply no matter what is a beautiful miracle in itself.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate then when I fall asleep your eyes close.” - Pablo Neruda

Pablo Neruda was a Chilean poet, diplomat and politician. His words on love are a heartwarming glimpse into the idea that love can run so deep that a couple becomes one.

“Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads, which sew people together through the years.” - Simone Signoret

Simone Signoret, an Academy Award winning actress in the 1950's & 1960's, has some exception words we love on the smaller details in the beauty of love. Lasting love is never created by a one-off occasion or gesture, it's the smaller details that all add up over time and become these tiny threads she refers to that sew us together is the perfectly beautiful analogy for everything love and weddings stand for.

“Love recognises no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” - Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou is an incredible woman and an inspiration to all of us at Team Euphorie. As a writer, civil rights activist, poet, memoirist and so much more, it would take dozens of blogs to even begin to list the works of art Maya Angelou has brought to this world. She has many words on love but one specific quote that stands out to us is the one above referring to the unstoppable nature love encapsulates and the way it will always find a way!

“A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.” - Mignon McLaughlin

Journalist and author, Mignon McLaughlin, said it perfectly with this quote. A great marriage is never a one off occasion of falling in love, it's the repeated act of falling in love over and over again with the same person. If you think about it, you'll realise there were probably times where you thought you had found the peak in the love you've felt for your partner, until something happens that makes you fall wildly in love with them all over again - this is precisely what Mignon is referring to.

“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness - and call it love - true love.” - Robert Fulghum

Robert Fulghum is a New York Times best selling author and his words on love are heartwarming. We all have our own weird uniqueness and it's a beautiful thing that becomes even greater when we find that special someone who's brand of weird matches ours!

“We get old and get used to each other. We think alike. We read each other’s minds. We know what the other one wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes we take each other for granted. But once in a while, like today, I meditate on it and realise how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much” - Johnny Cash in a letter to his wife, June Carter.

Johnny Cash (and his wife June Carter!) were both well known American country singers of their generation, they've even had a movie made about their life with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Over the years, Johnny Cash wrote some incredible poetic and beautiful words about his wife but the words above from a letter Johnny wrote to June are giving us all the heartwarming feels right now and something we wanted to share. There's also an incredible quote from a time Johnny Cash was once asked for his definition of paradise with his response being "this morning, with her, having coffee" - such lovely words!

We hope you found the beauty in the quotes we've shared here as much as we did and we'd love to hear which ones resonated with you or if there's any others that are personal faves for you when you think about love!
